I remember this song from my earliest radio memories in the 1950s, in Australia. How ever did you find this? It's wonderful and sad too, that spousal abuse would be more or less tolerated. My dad (from Poland) used to sing us a children's song in Yiddish, where the words go "When father beats mother, the children go dancing."
